Menorca means ‘smaller island’ and Mallorca means ‘larger island’ and you’ll definitely find a quieter pace in Menorca. For a start, we visited lots of beaches. We visited Cala en Bosch, Cala Galdana, Cala Blanca and Cala en Forcat. That’s a lot, even if there’s loads more, obviously, on the island, so check out video on Menorca beaches for a lot more insight.

Near the beach of Cala Galdana we discovered a cheese museum! Which might sound a little strange but we actually loved it. We were treated to watching the cheeses being made, an extensive presentation on how the cheese is made, we tried the varying maturities of cheese and we learnt about the wines they make there too. But there’s also a stunning hotel in there. So we’ve just picked up a brochure for it. Just have a little flick through; everything is white and serene and just beautiful. I would absolutely recommend coming here if you want to get away from the resorts. This is only 15 minutes from Cala Galdana.

Speaking of resorts, we visited the lesser-known Binibeca, a town with a laid-back way of life and loads of traditional character. With its white-washed houses and al fresco dining; the pretty harbour and cute little alleyways, it felt really charming but still very sophisticated. And that’s it, so, bye…

Moving away from resorts and on to Roman ruins and burial grounds at Torre d’en Galmes. This ancient archeological site dates back to the Bronze Age. You can wander round for as long as you like and pretty much wherever you like and try to imagine what is must have been like to live and die amongst all of these imposing stone structures. And it all cost €3, pretty reasonable!

If you like the sound of this, the Cala Morell necropolis is pretty similar but on a bigger scale. There are 14 caves with a beautiful beach and stunning views across the bay.

Coming back to civilisation, the ciutadella is in the west of the island. In the main square you’ll find the cathedral, that dates back to 1362! Wowza! There’s a town hall and right in the centre is an obelisk that commemorates the city’s defence against the Moors when they attacked in 1558. There are cute little pop-up markets which you can wander through down to the harbour, where you’ll find cobbled streets, tapas bars, restaurants and nightlife.

The ciutadella is about 30 miles from the airport and on a clear day you can see straight over into Mallorca! In fact, a ferry between here and Mallorca’s Puerta del Alcudia costs around €59 per person and only takes two and a half hours so, why not check out two islands in one trip?

We recommend you pre-book that, especially in the peak season and especially if you’re travelling by car…on the boat… In fact, if you wanted to check out what to do in Mallorca, check out our video called Things To Do in Mallorca. Thanks for watching! Bye!
