Santé publique Ottawa rend les visites chez le dentiste amusantes !

Hi, I'm Lyne, a registered dental hygienist at Ottawa Public Health, and I'm thrilled to guide you through what we like to call a "fun visit" at the dentist rather than just a "first visit."

Let's explore why it’s a fun and exciting adventure!

Children are welcomed and escorted to the dental room.
It often starts with a ride up and down in the chair.  They can first sit on the parent’s lap if that is more comfortable.
Next is a "show and tell" session with dental instruments. The little ones may even try the tiny dental mirror on Mr. Big Mouth.
The dental professional will “count” the children’s teeth to identify urgent dental needs.
If cooperation is good, they may “tickle” the teeth, for a more in-depth examination.
Sometimes, small radiographs are taken, and guess what? The are displayed on a TV screen! How cool is that?
To wrap up the adventure, children will receive a new toothbrush and maybe other surprises as a reward for being an awesome little patient!

Remember, a positive experience at the dentist sets the stage for a trusted relationship between your child and dental professionals and helps us detect dental issues at an early age.
