Purebred Gyr Cattle

Here is a group of gentle home raised pure bred Gyr that were developed prior to WWII in the 1930’s.  They were raised on the bay on the Texas Gulf Coast.  The owner is 81 years old and has decided to sell the herd and let someone else enjoy what he and his father before him developed and have loved for so many years.  Aside from a few bull purchases brought in throughout the years and in this past year introducing horned Herefords to a group of these cows, these girls have been untouched since their inception in the 1930’s.  These cattle have amazing teat size and udder quality.  Although they are not papered, they will be an awesome outcross for any Gyr breeder.   If you are a commercial man, you might be wondering how they would do with Hereford or Angus bulls, they will do well with any breed that normally crosses with the Brahman.  I personally have seen several Gyr cross herds in Mexico where they cross them with dairy breeds, Jersey, Holstein and Brown Swiss and those F-1 Gyr X dairy crosses make awesome cows.  We are aging and palpating these girls tomorrow, I will have a better number then of how many are in each group.  This is a very nice group of home raised cattle that can thrive in the most adverse, tropical weather conditions.  For more information, call me.
