The Coverups (Green Day) - Jessie's Girl (Rick Springfield cover) (with Jason Beebout) – Oakland, Live, 9-30-18, 1st row, The Uptown Nightclub. Secret Show! Performed 3 times in a row! Mike Dirnt: We save the best sh*t for you…:P
Other Tidbits:
First time in Oakland! The band joked. Indeed, the previous 4 Coverups shows were held in Albany at the Ivy Room and Thee Parkside in San Francisco.
The Uptown Nightclub is a bar and music venue which has a capacity of only ~250 people. Admission was only $15, and with it, we also got a raffle ticket. Only 2 joke prizes were raffled off this time, one of which was a large stuffed husky dog, and the other was a Bird motorized scooter that was left outside the club, lol.
The Coverups, Billie Joe, Mike Dirnt, Jason White, Bill Schneider and Chris Dugan, all arrived in the same black Cadillac limousine. And after the show, there were a limited number of posters given out for free to the fans, which featured a ‘70s era photo of Farrah Fawcett skateboarding.
For a couple songs, ‘Jessie's Girl’ and 'American Girl', Jason Beebout of Samiam, a punk band from Berkeley, California, came up from the crowd to sing the lead vocals. He was also at the first Coverups show in Albany.
Many of the fans recognized each other from previous Green Day concerts. Some even recognized each other from the concert at 924 Gilman two nights earlier when Mt. Eddy performed! However, because the Ivy Room could only allow in fans 21 years old and over, some fans could not make it.
Fans (before ‘American Girl’): Raffle!!
Mike: BTW, we have some really great prizes, then we have one extra special fu*king amazing *Vehicle*, we’re going to raffle off..
Billie Joe: We’re going to raffle off (Oakland’s Mayor) Libby Schaaf’s house! :P
Billie Joe to Bill: What do we have? We don’t have anything? The car?
Fans: Wooo!
Bill (before ‘Happy’): This is like a real valuable prize right now… It will get you around and take you places….
Mike: You can’t get these just anywhere, by the way. We save the best sh*t for you…:P

Bill: You’ve probably never seen those before… they’re rare… hard to find… We had to go to great lengths to get one of those! lol
