Industrial3D was instrumental in providing 3D animation and video for CNN during the BP Gulf Oil Spill. This animation shows a typical blowout preventer (BOP) working properly and not working properly. For example, if the pipe rams were not closed, the pipe might be bent or not centered and therefore could cause the shear rams not to work. Or, if the pipe joint was in the area of the shear rams, the shear rams would not be able to cut through the pipe joint. Another situation is if the wall thickness was to big on the drill-pipe.

During the BP Horizon Gulf Oil Spill, CEO of Industrial3D, Beau Brown created oil and gas animations for CNN to give understanding to the world as to how to stop the gulf oil spill.
