Unboxing the Vivo X51 5G,
Unboxing the Vivo X51 5G, with a full tour of the new 'Gimbal' camera setup, specs, speed, battery tech and that FunTouch OS. This smartphone is Vivo's first UK launch, costing £749 from October 29. A premium price indeed, but does that super-smart camera stabilisation stand the test of the OnePlus 8T, Pixel 5, Samsung's S20 and the iPhone 12? My full review of the X51 5G is coming soon, to see if this is the best cameraphone of 2020.
The selling point is definitely that quad lens hardware, which includes a unique ‘integrated gimbal’ as they put it. This apparently offers 3x more stability than a conventional smartphone camera setup with OIS. The Vivo X51 5G's lens can fully rotate in its housing, to act against hand tremors when shooting photos and video. Which should make this one of the best phones around for night photography and action footage.
Performance comes courtesy of the Snapdragon 765G chipset, not the 865 found in the S20 FE 5G and OnePlus 8T. Still, the X51 5G is able to play games like PubG and Call of Duty Mobile on top detail settings. You also get a 4315mAh battery with 33W charging, 6.56-inch AMOLED screen with 90Hz refresh and 256GB storage rounding off the specs.
So what do you think of this Vivo phone? Worth the cash? I'm reserving judgement until I've fully tested (especially the camera) for my review.
