The success of crowns placed on endodontically treated teeth is often associated with the presence of the so-called ferrule effect of the crown that should encircle 2mm of existing sound tooth  structure at the axial walls, in order to reinforce the tooth and prevent future fractures.
Is it so?
Or could there be another simpler explanation to this problem that has been puzzling dentists all around the world for many decades. Sometimes the different way that we look at things may help us override difficulties, as it is often the case with endodontically treated teeth.
