Is 93 Octane or Non-Ethanol Fuel Better?

Ron calls into the Magic Mechanic Show about his 2016 Mazda Miata that is factory tuned for 93 octane fuel. He believes that it may be more beneficial for him to use non-ethanol fuel as he sees slightly better fuel economy. Larry tells Ron that depending on the application the ethanol fuel may be the better choice especially when chasing performance and horsepower due to the timing benefits and cooler operation of ethanol mixed fuels.
