Here's a mesmerizingly close look at an octopus (Muusoctopus sp.)!
This amazing imagery was captured on remotely operated vehicle Deep Discoverer's cameras during a Seascape Alaska 5 dive to explore at 3,180 meters (2 miles) depth on a seamount in the Gulf of Alaska. While super cool to look at, these close zooms also provide scientists important details (like the two rows of suckers on the animal's arms) that help in identification and yield new insights.
