How to Unclog a Pool Skimmer Line, Pool Pump Not Priming Part 7

WEBSITE: http://www.swimmingpoollearning.com/ In this video I show you how to remove debris from your pool line. This usually will cause your pool to lose suction and stop it from priming. I will show you how to use the pool valves and a Drain Bladder to clear the line. If the debris is not large and is just leaves then turning the valve to another suction mode, spa or side port, should clear the blockage. This is usually 90% effective. To know if it is a clogged line, simply turn the valve to another mode and see if the pump primes (no air in the pump, just water). Note: if you are using a side port as your alternative suction mode, make sure the cleaner and any locking device (vac lock) is disconnected and it is just the hole (pipe)in the side of the pool. If it is your side port that is clogged (this happens when the cleaner sucks up large debris and you have no canister) use the skimmer suction to clear it and not the spa suction. If it is the skimmer that is clogged use either the spa suction (if you have a spa) or the side port -- cleaner suction. If you only have a pool and no valves then use the Drain Bladder to do the job. What happens in most cases is that the debris will clog the line and cause an air pocket to form. This will then prevent the pump from priming in that clogged mode since the pump cannot pull the pool water through the pipes. The air in the line is preventing it from doing so. Debris may also be blocking the line and preventing the pump from priming. If you fail to clear the line then you will need to call a plumber in to do the job. He will use C02 gas or a more effective Drain Bladder to do the job (he can also snake the line). But I have had good success by using the valves and the Drain Bladder.
