This week on ThursDev, Luke talks about his other gaming passion, Pen & Paper roleplaying, also known as Tabletop. Classics like Dungeons & Dragons, Shadowrun, GURPS and Palladium, and modern games like FATE and Powered by the apocalypse. He takes a look at the similarities between the roleplaying game and game design, and talks about how familiarizing oneself with tabletop games, and learning how they handle their systems of accommodating player needs through extremely simple dice and math, can help the prospective, or professional, game designer learn to refine their own designs
He also talks about challenging yourself to improve your design sense by, after familiarizing oneself with RPGs, attempting to design one yourself, and the benefits that it will impart.
