The wall is built on sloped ground but we wanted to ensure we had a nice level top that would serve as a place to sit and also border the paving stone.

We will have freely draining gravel behind the sleepers however you may want to use some drainage pipe or channel drain to make sure there is no build up of water behind, especially on larger walls.
