Former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak has been granted a partial pardon on his 12-year jail sentence. This means he will only be required to serve for six years until August 2028. The pardon also includes a reduction in fines to about $11 million from $44 million. Professor of Asian Studies James Chin from the University of Tasmania shared how the news was officially released after days of speculation, and what this reduced jail sentence could mean for Malaysia politics.
