RINALDO | “Lascia ch'io pianga”

RINALDO is a pastiche of an enigmatically historical rendition of the 1099 Siege of Jerusalem, peppered with classical Greco-Roman references, and set in a world inhabited by sorcerers, kings, mermaids, and an entire bestiary’s worth of dragons and assorted monsters. “Lascia ch'io pianga” is Almirena’s plea for freedom and mercy to her captor, Argante.
