Fujifilm X-T1 XT1 Video Test
This is the Fujifilm X-T1 video test. Fujifilm make beautiful classic cameras. The quality of the picture is superb. The sensor gives really rich colour and detail. But when it comes to the video side, are they any good? Can it be a professional video camera? When I first look at the video quality, I feel the sharpness and contrast handle pretty alright. But I have to say the Fuji XT1 has got a lot of limitation in video mode. The camera can do all the manual settings in stills. So why not in the video mode? You have got all the dials on top of the camera. But when it comes to video mode. All dials become useless, whatever you set on the dials. It just goes automatic. The only thing you could do is set your aperture and exposure compensation before you hit record button. Nothing else you could do. I had quite a few times while I was shooting video on the street. One lady with the black shirt walked pass my camera. And the camera recognised it must be in the dark area, then the ISO pumps up to ISO 6400 to get the right exposure. Which was very annoying. But once you have got a good lighting and steady shot set up. The quality actually looks pretty good.
But the big issue that I found on the camera was the Saw teeth effect in 60p video mode. All my video looked unacceptable. I have to reshoot it again with 30 frames per second. I hope this will be fixed in firmware update.
So in conclusion, can this X-T1 be a professional video camera? My answer is no. But for the daily home video? It works just fine. In my opinion, I think the video quality looks better than Olympus Pen and OMD actually. But don't get me wrong, I'm not trying make a completion. I also like Olympus cameras very much :)
