Masoor Dal Recipe I How To Make Masoor Dal Tadka
In today's video, I'm going to show you how to make a comforting and delicious Masoor Dal, also known as Red Lentil Curry. This easy recipe is perfect for a wholesome meal that's both nutritious and bursting with flavor. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced cook, you'll find this dish simple and satisfying.
1 cup masoor dal (red lentils)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
2 green chilies, slit
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
5 to 6 curry leaves
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp coriander powder
Salt to taste
2 tbsp oil or ghee
Fresh cilantro for garnish
Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions:
Rinse the masoor dal under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak for 15-20 minutes to help it cook faster. Pressure cook for 2 whistles
In a pot, heat oil or ghee over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle until aromatic.
Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
Stir in minced garlic, and green chilies, curry leaves. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and blend into the mixture.
Sprinkle turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well to combine.
Add the boiled dal to the pot. Stir to coat the lentils with the spice mixture.
Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer.
Stir in garam masala and adjust salt if needed. Let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan, accompanied by lemon wedges for an extra burst of flavor.
