The inspiration behind this video:
Marvel boss Kevin Feige expects the long-awaited Black Widow to make its May 2021 release date, though he's hesitant about being too certain. Once upon a time, Black Widow was set to kick off the MCU's Phase 4 slate. It seemed like the perfect choice, with the franchise's first female Avenger (Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff) finally getting her own solo movie. However, the coronavirus pandemic shut down movie theaters in mid-March 2020 and disrupted the entire year's release plans. Black Widow moved from May to November, then from November to May 2021.
For the time being, May of this year is where Black Widow stays. The state of moviegoing in 2021 remains unclear, as theaters in many major markets remain closed for the time being. To cope with another potentially difficult year, Warner Bros. announced their decision to release every 2021 movie on HBO Max and in theaters on the same day. No other studio has made a similar move, and Disney hasn't changed any of its MCU release plans just yet. However, with May still several months away, anything can happen.
