SEASON 1 of THE LAST
SEASON 1 of THE LAST OF US comes to a close with the FINALE in Episode 9 "Look for the Light"
Episode 9 - "Look for the Light" - A pregnant woman named Anna, desparately attempts to outrun infected while on her way to rendezvous with Marlene and her fireflies. However, they are late and Anna is left fighting for her life and the life of her unborn child. She manages to kill the infected but was bitten in the process. During the heat of the fight, she unknowingly gave birth and when the realization kicks in, she rushes to cut her umbilical cord in hopes of sparing her child of the infection. Marlene arrives too late. Anna gives her new born child, Ellie, to Marlene and begs for her to make sure she is safe and taken care of before asking to be killed. Flashing to the present, Joel and Ellie arrive in Salt Lake City. As their journey nears it's end, Ellie is lost in her thoughts about what comes next. After an uplifting moment with a herd of Giraffe, Joel opens up to her about the scar on his head and how sometimes it's not time that heals old wounds but the people you let into your life. They are cut short as they are ambushed by Fireflyies. Joel awakens to Marlene as Ellie is being prepped for surgery. Realizing that creating a cure requires Ellie's death, Joel takes matters into his own hands and tears his way through the Firefly base to free Ellie. Along the way, we see how far Joel will go to protect those that he loves, killing every Firefly in his way and the Doctor that was about to operate on Ellie to save humanity. Before they can escape Marlene confronts Joel and a still unconscious Ellie. Joel shoots her knowing that if he sparred them, they would continue hunting Ellie. Ellie wakes up in a car with Joel taking them back to Jackson. He tells her that their attempts at a cure were a failure and raiders attacked the hospital forcing them to flee hastily and that Marlene died in the crossfire.
