Live Train accident! Train-18 Hits Sheep Crossing Railway Line at High Speed! - A poor lonely sheep crossing the railway track gets brutally hit by a speeding 20608 Mysuru Jn - MGR Chennai Central VANDE BHARAT Express near Paschima Vahini point of Shrirangapattana, KA. Instances of trains like Vande Bharat Express running over domestic animals like herd of sheep or cattle have adversely affected the entire rail operations, which in turn increase the likelihood of train accidents including derailments. This also endangers the safety of passengers and may lead to disruption of train traffic and loss of railway property and so on. As per the provisions of the Railways Act 1989, owners of cattle are liable to be punished under Section 154 (Endangering the safety of persons travelling by railway by willful act or omission, punishable with imprisonment for 1 year or with fine or both) and under Section 147 (Trespass and refusal to desist from trespass, punishable with imprisonment for 6 months or a fine of Rs. 1000 or both). Recently, the high-profile Mumbai Central – Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express train faced severe controversy over cattle run-over cases damaging the nose of the train. A herd of sheep was crossing track, but unfortunately, a poor lonely sheep was left behind. Within a fraction of seconds, it couldn't cross the railway track in time and came in front of the Train-18 set (without even a small honking alert from Vande Bharat train). I have been waiting for Ludhiana ALCo's with a special train to pass by and other railfanning activities with respect to the location, and this was one of my worst experiences of Railfanning activity. The perspective would have been better otherwise. Moreover, saving that poor sheep from a distance of almost 300 meters away was not at all possible in front of speeding Vande Bharat Express (by hitting a stone from far which is a criminal/punishable offense) as it suddenly crawled from beneath the underpass bridge. At that point of time, even applying emergency brakes was not possible as the train was already in high speed through the S-curve.
