he Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora
he Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de las Maravillas, the almiranta of the 1654-1656 Spanish treasure fleet, was lost on January 4th, 1656 in the shallow waters of Little Bahama Bank, when she was struck by the lead Capitana while executing evasive maneuvers to steer clear of the shallows. All but 45 of the 650 passengers on board perished. The shipwreck and her treasure was discovered more than 300 years later by Robert Marx in August 1972 and then salvaged a second time by Herbert Humphreys in 1987.
