An Axolotl is a Mexican Salamander that in natural conditions retains it's Fully Aquatic larval form throughout its Life and can breed in this form.
Axolotls are highly endangered in their natural habitat due to lake Chalco being drained in the 1970s ( To prevent flooding! ugh) and lake Xochimilo and the surrounding canals are being used to dump city waste water since the 1980s! These were the only two lakes where Axolotls have been found.
we cannot import Axolotls into Australia ( currently 2022) and Genetically modified animals are not permitted to be kept as pets.
Lower pH levels will have a higher concentration of NH4 as opposed to the more Toxic NH3, hence the recommendation of a lower pH in this Video of 7.2 - 7.4.
