A Country often overlooked but
A Country often overlooked but possessed tremendous potential, Belize is home to amazing natural wonders. We started our Belize adventure with a stay one of the best resorts in the town of San Pedro-- The Mahogany Bay Resort and Beach Club.
Nestled on a 60 acre property, it features a Belizean-British Colonial Architecture inspired Resort and part of the Hilton's Curio Collection. It is found in a self-sustaining community of homes, restaurants, spa and stores. You got everything that you need without leaving the resort.
The best part is that guests have access to Mahogany Bay Beach Club, a amazing private beach located 12 minutes away from the resort via speed boat. The beach has tranquil, shallow and crystal clear water all year round. Thanks to its inland facing location which prevents the sargassum seaweed from accumulating on its shores.
The beach club also has amazing facilities such as its main building which houses the snack bar and restaurant, beach lounges, overwater hammocks (yes!) and their highly coveted overwater cabanas. Only 5 cabanas are available and people book them several weeks before arriving at the resort. We're lucky because one of the reservation was a no show so we were able to secure one for my parents and I.
San Pedro, Belize can be reached from any major airport in the US, arriving at their International Airport in Belize City and then an island hopper flight for 20 minutes. A more affordable option is via a 2 hour fast craft boat, departing from Belize City several times a day.
