This guide will help you out to find the VSS Vintorez Sniper Rifle and the Veles detector (The best detector in the game) very early on in the swamp level. Make sure you patch your game up to the latest version. I am playing this on Windows 7 and I wasn't even able to play it before I could install the latest patch which makes it playable on Win 7.

Also take note that I applied the STALKER Clear Sky Complete Mod 1.1.3 which gives this game a huge facelift but lets anything else intact, you can grab it here if you like.
