When Ethyl decides she can
When Ethyl decides she can no longer help the Prestons, Mr. Divine shows her what their future will be like without her (ala "It's a Wonderful Life").
Should note that the dark levels are wonky at the beginning of the future sequence (there isn't much I could do to fix it) but it eventually lightens up.
