Hiking Griffith Park With Ranger Ernie

Park Ranger Ernie Ybarra has been leading free public group hikes in Griffith Park for some 14 years. The hikes vary in difficulty from breezy nature walks to more rigorous excursions that may extend over 10 miles. Over the past two years we've enjoyed participating in this group hikes and just wanted to share a bit of our experience.

Ernie does a great job of providing history and insight about the park during the journeys, and we think it's a great introduction to Griffith for anyone who is interested in exploring it for the first time (also just a good way to insert some exercise into your monthly regimen).

Hikes normally begin at either 7:30am or 8:00am on Sundays (may vary), and usually meet at the Griffith Park Ranger Station at 4730 Crystal Springs Dr., unless otherwise specified.
