The Sage of Kanchi is
The Sage of Kanchi is a 69 minute 35mm Color biographical documentary in English produced for Sri Kanchi Mahaswami Vidya Mandir, Chennai and directed by Mr. V. Balakrishnan of Nrityadaya, Chennai.
It takes on a spiritual journey and portrays the life and times of the Maha Periyaval of Kanchi, the 68th Pontiff of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. A panoramic picture, it captures the 100 years in the life of this great spiritual head, his immense contribution to the national and spiritual fabric of India and to the 2500 year old institution established by Sri Adi Sankara.
"The visual, the commentary and the music fused into a seamless whole. All aspects of his life and work have been included and the comprehensive treatment gives the film the touch of an EPIC" - The Hindu
The devotional capsule is rounded off with glimpse of the institutions, memorials in his honor.The bhakti-filled music, especially of M. S. Subbulakshmi, used suitably in the background enhances the spirit of tribute.
