So many in this cemetery born in the 1600s, and a few that came over on the Mayflower.  Some of the more interesting stories emerging from these graves:

A man likely born in Harwich, England in the 1590s, and came over on the Mayflower likely as a cooper.  He died near 88 years old in Duxbury, MA, and may have been involved in a love triangle that included Myles Standish himself.

The girl who drowned along with her mother during their passage from Duxbury to Boston.  She was the daughter of a reverend.  She was married.  She was sixteen (probably not that uncommon).  Who and where was the husband, I wonder.

And the Pilgrim who came over and signed the Mayflower Compact in 1620.

There are also the graves of at least four captains, two colonels, a doctor, a deacon, and a reverend.  Not to mention several people that lived into their 90s or very near it.  Most graves are very-well maintained, and the memorial to Myles Standish, who is buried here, is a standout with its four canon surrounding it.

The most interesting first/given names I found include:  Peleg, Eliphaz, Eliphas, Wisewall, Ichabod, Jabez, Jedaiah, Uriah, Gamaliel, and Zedekiah.  The most common surnames I found include:  Sprague, Partridge, Alden, Weston, Seabury, Winsor, Soul/Soule, Wadsworth, Prior, Loring, and Bradford.

I realize several other cemeteries lay claim to "oldest" in America, but from what I gather, the word "maintained" in Duxbury's cemetery is what help it stand out.
