In today's video, we will introduce 3 ways to fix "Windows was unable to complete the format" and how to recover data.

🎈Method 1: use disk management to format the hard drive.
My removable hard drive is Disk F. Right click the Start and select the Computer Management. You will see the management window and then click Disk Management. Right click the disk that you want to format and select Format. Make sure you check the Quick Format. Then click OK.

🎈Method 2: use Command.Prompt.
Press Windows and R, and type “diskpart” in Run. Hit Enter you will be prompted to Command Prompt Window. Type “list disk” and press Enter.
It is going to display a list of all available disks. You should know which disk is your hard drive that going to be formatted. Mine is Disk 1, so then I will type “select disk 1”. Next type “list volume”, you will see all volumes.
We will select the removable volume and type “select volume 3”. Finally, type "format fs=ntfs quick".

🎈Method 3: check the file system condition. Just right-click the External disk and select Properties. Then choose Tools and you will see there is an Error checking function. Click check and confirm, it could find the error possibly happening in the disk. And then formatting should be working.
