Yaamaamaa - Sammandar Thevaram ~ a Palindrome

alapana Singapore is proud to publish this video from our archives for the Silver Jubilee series of 2024.
In 2009, Mrs R.Banumathy had chosen to teach her students, a Palindrome Thevaram composed by the youngest composer of the world, Sri Thirugnana Sammandar (10th Century). The Thevaram is in PaNN Kausikam, set to Adi Talam.

Mrs R.Banumathy herself is seen in the picture,  conducting the Choir presentation of her alapana students as participants.

This was performed live at Singapore Polytechnic Auditorium for a full-house audience at the 'alapana anniversary 2009' event.  

While, Dr. S Ramanathan has done yeoman service in propagating such precious treasures to the music world in the 20th century, his daughter & disciple, Mrs R.Banumathy is continuing the mission at alapana, Singapore till date.
