Rava or Suji Idli Recipe a healthy South Indian dish gives you a delicious, soft and delicious light of rava idli. With this quick rava food recipe, we found the perfect combination of ingredients to make these nutritious cakes soft, juicy, tender and delicious.
Rava Idli is a soft, lightly baked cake made with rava or suji and is a popular variation of the traditional South African Idli made from boiled rice and lentil batter.
Rava, also known as 'suji' in Hindi and 'wheat cream' or 'semolina' in English, is simply a pseudo-wheat.
It is made by mixing roasted rahe (suji or wheat cream) with curd (yoghurt), spices, herbs, cashews, water and a yeast-based agent such as baking soda or eno (salt fruit) to make a good batter for moderate consistency.
The alkaline reaction with baking soda and yogurt acid helps to soak the crumbs thus giving it a soft and warm texture. This delicious batter is boiled in the idli maker to make green cakes, legs.
Traditionally, idli is made with rice and lentils, which include soaking rice and lentils for 4 to 5 hours as well as grinding the lentils and boiling the batter.
Since this recipe uses rava (wheat cream), yoghurt and yeast-adding agent, we do not need all that dipping or grinding time, which makes this a quick recipe.
For that reason, I make rava food when we want a quick and easy breakfast or meal. The rava idli batter is made within minutes and, as the idli smokes, I prepare coconut chutney, a traditional dip that will work with idli.
Rava eats a wonderful flavor served with coconut chutney. Rava Idli also tastes good with Sambar - a vegetable stew cooked with dal, veggies and tamarind.
