The German Cemetery in Maleme, Chania is one of the most important historic monuments in Crete. It is the resting place of more than 4000 German soldiers that lost their lives in battle during the Second World War from 1941 to 1945. More than 3000 of them during the airborne invasion in Maleme airport and the battle of Crete from May 20th - June 1st 1941.
