Which colored pencils are best? Today, I am comparing the Caran D'ache Luminance colored pencils and the Derwent Lightfast colored pencils to see which brand I think is the best!
UPDATE Thank you to all the people that let me know there are 24 additional pencils to the set of 76 Caran D’ache Luminance pencils. This means the largest amount of Caran D’ache Luminance pencils available now is 100 pencils. The 24 new pencils are: Pink white LF1, Indian yellow LFI, Quinacrindone purple LF2, Herculanum red LF1, Terracotta LF1, Carmine lake LF2, Nimes blue LF2, Middle green LF1, Light flesh 10% LF1, Dark cadmium orange LF2, Hibiscus pink LF2, Dark flesh 5% LF1, Natural russet LF2, Dark indigo LF1, Ultramarine LF1, Chromium oxyde green LF1, Medium cadmium yellow LF1, Anthraquinone Carmine LF2, Violet pink LF1, Dark flesh 40% LF1, Dark flesh LF1, Indanthrone blue LF1, Chrysocolla blue LF1, Dark phtalocyanine green LF1.
So in total, the total number of pencils graded at a LFI or LF2 is:
Luminance: LFI - 79 pencils, LF2 - 21 pencils. (Set of 100)
Derwent: LFI - 62 pencils, LF2 - 38 pencils. (Set of 100)
LFI - pencil pigments last 100 or more years.
LFII - pencil pigments last 50 or more years.
