Throughout the Second World War,
Throughout the Second World War, there were a number of war crimes and atrocities committed by the Japanese in The Pacific. In early 1945, the Americans were alerted to a horrific series of executions that took place in Palawan in the Philippines, with scores of American Prisoners Of War being executed in a horrific manner by the Japanese. The Japanese had been told to slaughter around 150 Americans who had been tasked with building an airfield.
They faked an air raid and forced the former soldiers into the a number of air raid shelters. Once the prisoners were in here, the Japanese then scattered aviation fuel all around the shelters and set this alight. Some tried to escape but the Japanese then shot anyone who tried to escape, but then after the war the task came to repatriate those who had been executed in the terrible scenes.
