Quadra fire tells you not to leave ACC open unless starting, that is misleading. Depending on how hot your fire is, is it a new fire or do you just want a nice glowing roaring fire, the ACC is key. Anothing thing they tell you in manual is don't get fire too hot or you will burn some parts up. For the first year I was alway worried about that and then did some research and that is legal mumbo jumbo, it's a Damn Fireplace, how the hell are you going to parts in it that will burn up?
This fire insert works best when the fire is HOT HOT HOT, once I learned to ignore all the BS in the manual and just run it so it works, it is great. Trying to comply with all the idiot safety lawyer BS and not wanting to void the warranty, I was not keeping the fire low, using one or two logs and NOT getting heat.
This fireplace rocks with load it up and get all the logs glowing red.
So use the ACC not only for starting but for getting the fire hot, the wood glowing and the heat production at a maximum. I have to turn it down or open doors it gets so hot.
