Many may ask 'What does the Confederate flag stand for?' For me the Confederate flag meaning referring to the famous Confederate Battle Flag has been steeped in history with negativity and I feel a large part of that is due to peoples misunderstanding of history, the Confederate flag is about Southern Pride and heritage, the red Confederate flag background symbolising their Southern Christian heritage. I can understand why many ask 'is the Confederate flag racist?' and my response to that is, no. Although there are specific type of people who use it as a symbol of hatred and racism I simply view them as twisted anyway. I feel it is important to show the Confederate flag meaning. In this video I give my short explanation about the Confederate Battle Flag and what it means to me personally. The Confederate Battle Flag is something treasured by American Southerners not because of slavery or racism but simply because of their pride of their Southern heritage. Confederate flags are everywhere to be seen, not as a symbol of their hate for black people, far from it, but their pride of where they come from, It is for this reason I made this short video to give my view as a Scotsman as I'm proud of my own Scottish heritage and the relation with the Scottish American heritage in the South.
