Purebred Tarentaise Cattle Munching on Grass in the Spring

These are my purebred Tarentaise cattle.  They originated in France as dairy cattle and were brought over to Canada in the 70's where the breed was crossed with beef cattle.  They are one of the most docile breeds.  These Tarentaise cattle are almost like dogs that will follow you around and lick you if you spend enough time with them in the pasture.  This is the perfect breed for a family with small children and a small farm who want to raise their own beef.  Unlike my experience with black Angus, I've never been stared down or chased out of the pasture by these gentle giants.
