From the earliest times Tripoli in north Lebanon was an unusual city due to its configuration for it was not one city but ‘three cities in one", hence its name Tripolis or the "Tri-city". Built on a rocky promontory on the East Mediterranean coast, Tripoli stood halfway between the great rival commercial centers of Antioch and Tyre. Its geographical and strategic position was further enhanced by the presence of offshore islands, natural ports and its proximity to the hinterland. Tripoli thus inevitably played a predominant role in political and economic developments in the region and the Middle East for over two millennia.

El-Mina or El Mina, is a coastal city in Northern Lebanon. El-Mina occupies the location of the old Phoenician city of Tripoli, Lebanon's second largest city. It acts as the harbour city for modern neighboring Tripoli, situated 5 km to the east.

Tripoli (Trablos), 85 kilometers north of Beirut, has a special character all its own. Thanks to its historical wealth, relaxed lifestyle and thriving business climate, this is a city where modern and medieval blend easily into a lively and hospitable metropolis. Known as the capital of the North, Tripoli is Lebanon’s second largest city. Forty-five buildings in the city, many dating from the 14th century, have been registered as historical sites. Twelve mosques from Mamluke and Ottoman times have survived along with an equal number of “madrassas” or theological schools.

NoGarlicNoOnions with its food blog (5,000 articles to date), Youtube channel (130,000 subscribers), Instagram account (150,000 followers), google maps (600 million views) and Facebook page (95,000 followers) aims to discover the heroes behind this marvelous country, spread happiness and revive “Paris of the Middle East”.
With every day that goes by and every discovery made and every new venture developed, the aim is one. My aim is to keep people connected to each other and to their roots, to make everyone enjoy, smile when they taste something good and unique, to discover the endless food artisans available across the country... creating a positive and rich environment that allows us all to embrace what we have and embrace life.
