A study by Duke-NUS Medical School reveals that there were up to 40 cases of heat-related illnesses each year from 2008 to 2019 in Singapore. Most incidents happened around December, which coincided with the lead-up to local marathons. Those affected were mainly adults aged 18 to 64 who frequently exercise outdoors. CNA spoke to Professor Marcus Ong from Duke-NUS Medical School and Singapore General Hospital.
