An advance directive and do not resuscitate order are the two most important medical documents caregivers need to make sure are in place their loved ones.

An 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 is a legal document used to make end-of-life decisions ahead of time. It alleviates medical staff and family from having to make these decisions on another’s behalf. A 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 (𝗗𝗡𝗥) order is a document that denies life-saving measures if a person’s heart stops beating or they are unable to breathe on their own.
