This is the original audio from Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre on the Air, first aired on October 30, 1938. Many consider this to be the pinnacle of radio plays and is probably the most famous radio show ever aired. I only made two modifications to the audio: I removed a high-pitched whine, and I lowered some of the louder parts that were clipping. All the scratches and original radio noise are left in. This includes a full transcription, pictures of Orson Welles and other members of the cast as they performed this, as well as illustrations from the 1906 French translation of the book. These illustrations were drawn by Henrique Alvim Corrêa and were, according to H.G. Wells, the closest to what he imagined as he wrote the book. This radio version of the classic novel was written by Howard Koch, who would go on to write "Casablanca" and many other movies. If you enjoyed the radio show, I highly recommend reading the original book: "War of the Worlds" by H.G. Wells, mass market paperback: amzn.to/3pHjtWB Then there are the two Hollywood movies based on the book: From 1953 starring Gene Berry and Ann Robinson: amzn.to/3n1u64S And the 2010 one starring Tom Cruise: amzn.to/3mXItXD To create this video, I used the following software: Audacity and Reaper to clean up and trim the audio. Photoshop Elements 2020 to modify the pictures. Microsoft Word to do the transcription. Premiere Elements 2020 to put it all together. Thanks for watching.
