There are for sale similar LiFePo4 prismatic batterys, but sometimes it is cheaper and more satisfying to build your own.
Here you can see an step by step tutorial of the adaptation of a lead car battery to a lithium one with the safe LiFePo4 technology (in minute 1:44:04 start-up test), advantages:
- Longevity X 4 times; it is likely to last 20 years if the Chinese BMS last that long.
- With hardly any self-discharge; We can leave the car unused for months that when it comes back it will have a battery.
- We remove 15 kg. to the car, which also increases safety, in the event of an accident neither driver nor passengers will be in danger; A lead battery is a mass hazard.
- Deep discharges do not harm it at all; If we leave the lights on, it is enough to recharge it (apart from the fact that it does not generate dangerous gases such as hydrogen during recharging, nor does it require any maintenance during its useful life).
- We eliminate lead from classic batteries, which is very polluting, although it is usually recycled due to its cost, in the past I have seen more than one run in the field.
