2024.01.22 port notch & sheb point, great lakes surfing

went to the notch before work cause i knew it was clear of ice & a shelf. was freezing snow on the drive and luckily it stopped by the time i got there. short rides but lot of energy in the wave which made it worth it. really wanted to keep surfing but was at my max time. didnt really figure out where to sit until last 15-20min of the session which was kind of a bummer but oh well.

tried out point at lunch. sketchy entry, could barely get up the ice wall and nothing to get traction on. further down i saw easier looking exit points but def not where i wanted to paddle out at. struggled a bit to get into the waves, hard to tell from the footage but they were thick and heavy and would jack up last second making it hard to have a decent take off without being too late - at least for my skill. was out for 40min or so and got stuck on the inside. figured that was a good indicator to go in while i still was warm and had energy just in case the shelf was going to be a challenge.
