After the CBI, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) too has red-flagged the appointment of former Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium as a Supreme Court judge citing personality oddities even as government sources indicated on Tuesday that the senior advocate's case was unlikely to be decided any time soon. The Intelligence Bureau has in a report sent to the Law Ministry raised questions about what it labelled "odd behaviour" on the part of Subramanium, thereby seeking to underline his unsuitability and giving the government ammunition in its desire to block his appointment to the country's top court. The BJP Government is opposed to his appointment, which has been unanimously recommended by the Supreme Court collegium of judges. Senior ministers have also privately spoken against his appointment.

Earlier the government is have returned the recommendation for appointment of Gopal Subramanium as a Supreme Court judge to its collegium with a request to reconsider the decision. Sources in the government said while returning the recommendation relating to the former Solicitor General to the collegium headed by Chief Justice of India R M Lodha, the government has cleared the other names for appointment. The government is learnt to have sent a note to the collegium giving out reasons for its reservations over appointing Subramanium to the apex court. As amicus curiae in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, Subramanium was critical of the Gujarat government headed by Narendra Modi and brought out new facts on the basis of which the Supreme Court had ordered a CBI probe into the case. TIMES NOW's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami speaks exclusively to former Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium about the CBI and the Intelligence Bureau report red flagging his appointment to the Supreme Court.
