JORDI DOMENECH BRUNET - Specialis of Catalan Vault (Boveda Catalana)

Jordi Domenech is master of the “Catalan vault” (Bóveda catalana) a technique widely used during Catalan modernism and one of the construction systems preferred by many architects of this movement, such as Gaudí, Domènech, and Montaner, Cèsar Martinell or the Valencian Rafael Guastavino. This technique, which allows for very organic shapes, requires few elements, clay, mortar, bricks. On the other hand, it requires a lot of manpower. Jordi is very involved in the preservation and transmission of this know-how and teaches in several schools.
