Welcome to Venice! We start our trip with a saunter down by the Ponte di Rialto/Rialto Bridge - one of four bridges to span the Grand Canal.
The bridge is extremely popular with tourists, so much so that this was filmed at 6:45am to avoid the daily influx. The bridge itself contains a number of shops that open at 10am even though the tourists themselves pour through the bridge hours beforehand.
The stone bridge as it stands today was constructed in the late 16th century and replaced a previous wooden incarnation that features in one of Carpaccio's paintings: Miracle of the Cross at the Ponte di Rialto, and appears in Assassin's Creed 2 (for the fans).
