Consumers must receive a written copy of the lay-by agreement and it must expressed in plain language, legible and clearly presented. Under the ACL, a consumer can request that a supplier provide them with an itemised bill. Suppliers must supply proof of a transaction for goods or services valued at $75 or more. Repair notices must be provided to a consumer if refurbished goods are used in repairs or if the goods are capable of retaining user-generated data. If there are two or more prices displayed on goods it's illegal to sell the good for the higher price.
