The Schist disc
The schist relic is in a shallow bowl with a diameter of 61 cm and a maximum height of 10.6 cm. There is a center hole with a diameter of about 8 centimeters that is fitted with a socket whose height is about equal to the bowl's depth. Three wings or lobes are folded inwards towards the central hole, leaving the outer border in narrow arches that connect the non-folded sections. When viewed from above, it resembles a steering wheel with three extremely wide spokes. Since its discovery in 1936 in the Egyptian town of Saqqara, the so-called "Schist Disk" has been used to support the generally held belief that the ancient Egyptian culture obtained technology considerably superior to their own at some time in their evolution from an external source. And, while this disk may not be definite confirmation of that position, given what is known aboutEgyptian culture after over two centuries of collaborative research, the Egyptians of 3000 BCE lacked the capacity to produce such complex technology, but they did.
