Through this insightful poem, Kabir tries to clear the misconceptions of the human quest in regards to the Almighty! God is the focal point of Kabir’s religion and Kabir addressed him in different names. In his opinion God alone was Ram, Rahim, Govind, Allah, Khuda, Hari etc. He said god was omnipresent and His domain is unlimited. God was pure, sacred, existing, without form, light, endless and inseparable. Hence God was all powerful and he could only be worshipped through love, devotion and faith. Faith is of utmost importance that let you tread the path even when it's full of adversities.

Where do you search God? Why to find him when he already resides in us. Not in the holy
pilgrimage sites, nor in the mighty icons, neither in solitudes. Not in the massive temples, nor in the majestic mosques, neither in Kaba nor in Kailash. He is right here within ourselves.

Not in prayers, nor in meditation, neither in fasting, not in yogic exercises, neither in renunciation. All these places and attempts to find him there are futile. If we seek earnestly then we can discover him any moment.

Saint Kabir says that if we listen wisely, then it's our faith that will lead us closer to the God. If we truthfully believes in his presence, his grace will be bestowed in all the places.

__________
Translation of the song-

You read books after books
But never read your own self
You visit the temple and the mosque
But never visited your own heart

You fight the devil everyday
But never fought your own self
Bulleh shah says, you desire to catch something from the sky
But what lives right in your heart, you never tried catching that

The world read books and scriptures, yet no one became a true scholar
The one who reads a word of love, becomes a true scholar

By bathing in the Ganges, you won’t attain the lord, even after hundreds of dives
By visiting the mecca, you won’t attain the lord, even after hundreds of prayers offered
By visiting Gaya, you won’t attain the lord, even after hundreds of worships
Says Bulleh shah, only those liberate, who removes ‘I’, ignorance from the heart

Where are you finding me, my friend? I am with you, always!

Not in statues nor in pilgrimages
Not even in solitude
Not in temples nor in mosques
Neither in kabha nor in Kailash
Where are you finding me, my friend?

I’m not in chants, nor in penance
Neither in vows or fasts
Neither I live in rituals
Nor in yoga or renunciation
Where are you finding me, my friend?

Those whose thirst is deep
Will find me at an instant
Says kabir, listen O seekers!
I am alive in your faith
Where are you finding me, my friend?
I am with you, always
