This video provides a step-by-step guide for performing a ping test to evaluate the latency of your internet connection. It was created and included in the following blog post:

Latency is a term that is used when analyzing the speed of an internet connection. It describes the time it takes for one device to respond to another device. In other words, latency is the amount of time from when a device sends a request until the time it receives a response. It is often referred to as "ping" and it is measured in milliseconds (ms).

For example, if you're voice calling someone over the internet, a high latency would mean that the person on the other line says something and you don't hear it right away. This often results in people talking at the same time because they hear silence from the other end of the call.

In online gaming, latency can cause you to shoot at someone on your screen but in reality they are no longer there. This is often referred to as lag.

Latency is important because users want instant feedback from the other end when they perform an action. High latency leads to a poor experience and frustration for everyone involved.

The ping test described in this example allows you to identify the latency between your device and another location. You can perform a ping test to another device on your network, or you can perform a ping test to a location on the internet. By default, the ping test will send 4 packets of data to the location you identify. A summary with statistics of the latency for these 4 packets will be provided once the ping test has completed.

Ping test are often used for troubleshooting to see if there are any issues with the connection between a device and another device or an internet location.
