Fastvue Safeguarding Report Introduction

This is the first version of our new Safeguarding report. We don't feel it's perfect yet, so we're very keen to hear the honest feedback from your safeguarding staff.

What is the Safeguarding report?

One of the main criticisms we've received from Safeguarding/Well-being staff is that the Internet Usage Report contains too much 'stuff' (apps, categories, top sites, productivity etc).

All they want to know is — What students have exhibited 'risky' online behaviour such as watching videos or searching for self-harm, extremism, drugs, or tried to access websites deemed unacceptable by your school (extremist, pornography etc).

So we are introducing a brand new report called the 'Safeguarding' report (Reports | Overview Report | Safeguarding) that is designed to do exactly this.

The Safeguarding Report first provides an Overview of the number of Keyword incidents (searches & videos that match a Keyword group in Settings | Keywords), as well as the number Web Category incidents (Unacceptable web categories as defined Settings | Productivity).

The rest of the report provides the details of the Keyword incidents for each Keyword group, and each Category.

The Keyword Groups can be re-ordered in Settings | Keywords by dragging/dropping and this defines the order of the Keyword Groups in the Safeguarding report.

The Unacceptable Web Categories can also be re-ordered in Settings | Productivity to define their order in the Safeguarding Report.

We've also moved IT related categories such as Malware, Phishing etc out of the Unacceptable group and into a new 'IT Security' group so that these do not appear in the Safeguarding Report.
